Here in our little town of Melburger, it can be hard sorting out quality burger joints from the ever-increasing pack (our definitive list is coming!). Luckily for us, burger stalwart Terri Tep of Dandenong Pavilion fame has teamed up with Richmond local Three One 2 One to open up Flip City, a pop up serving a handful of her finest.
Tep knows how to put a cheesy, juicy burger together. The Harry Snyder showcases the quality of the beef patty, which is artfully balanced in its burger surrounds. The McClaire Underwood whacks a hearty potato and mushroom rosti in place of a meat patty and it’s crunchy, soft and good-looking. Add some bacon for carnivorous satisfaction.
The café itself is perhaps an aged venue that may get overlooked in favour of shiny new ones – especially in Richmond. However, it’d be a mistake to pass it off. There is a large hand of standard breakfast fare such as your benedicts and smashed avo but more importantly, it is a non-pretentious, family-friendly restaurant with faultless service.
In a sentence: When it comes to deliciousness and execution in a welcoming environment, Three One 2 One makes a splash in the Melbourne burger pool.
Verdict: Would Go Back.
