Woody.P provides something a little different along the very esteemed food destination of Flinders Lane (Chin Chin, Hihou, Meatball & Wine Bar, Supernormal, Papa Goose…just to name a few), with a rather relaxed approach as a sophisticated “GastroPub”. It feels familiar yet still fits well within the confines of Flinders Lane.

Serving up a menu strong on Italian and Mediterranean influences (think fresh Pizzas, pasta, and salumi), along with a drink menu that is again influenced by the restaurant’s Italian roots, Woody.P has the potential to stand on its on – but currently lacks that extra lick of polish that has us excited to come back regularly.

It all feels very trendy, and we’re sure, without a doubt, it’ll definitely become a favourite for many. The interiors are beautiful, the menu, again, rather trendy (however, to be bold: possibly lacking some soul, and not particularly generous), and the service sits in the upper crust. However, amazing restaurants are more than the sum of their parts, which is somewhere Woody doesn’t quite reach.

While they may begin with just receiving the run off from the crazy lines still awaiting their Chin Chin, and Cumulus fix, there’s definitely room for growth to be a pre-eminent destination that isn’t overshardowed by its more famous neighbours.

In a Sentence: Cliched as it may be, they’re good, but not quite great.

Verdict: Worth a Try.
